Stuart Todd – French wine brand Chamarré remains in acquisitive mood, after adding Alsace wine co-operative La Cave de Beblenheim to its portfolio. Beblenheim is the 10th co-operative to join Chamarré and gives the group a presence in most of France’s major wine regions. Chamarré president and founder, Pascal Renaudat, told just-drinks today (22 December) that the group plans to sign up more co-operatives in 2009.Renaudat said that Chamarré sales will „significantly exceed“ its 2007 total of 2m bottles. „There’s no doubting the market has taken a serious hit from the global economic crisis. But we are a relatively new player and while some of our existing customers are buying less, we are adding more customers all the time and the overall result is sustained growth and we expect this to continue in 2009.“

However, he said that „difficult conditions“ in the UK mean that the firm will be „looking to compensate in other international markets“. Chamarré revenue totalled EUR4.6m (US$6.47m) last year, with 85% from international sales.
