„The success of Primeur Week in Bordeaux sent out a strong signal that the entire Bordeaux wine industry was waiting for after the economic crisis that we have just experienced,“ declared Sylvie Cazes, President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. The presence of some 6,000 importers, distributors and journalists from over 30 countries left the impression of decidedly strong interest in fine Bordeaux. The sort of frenzy one always encounters in great vintages was obvious at the châteaux hosting tastings organised by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.

With a nearly 43% increase in the number of visits compared to last year, the Union des Grands Crus registered some 20,000 entries during the three days of tasting. French distributors were, of course, most numerous, while Great Britain, the United States, China, Germany and Belgium were among the most-represented foreign countries.

The members of the Union des Grands Crus are responsible for initiating Primeur Week, whose impact on sales is greater than that of even the most important international trade fairs.

The outlook for sales of the 2009 vintage is thus looking very bright. Bordeaux has worked its magic, and numerous wine enthusiasts around the world will soon be able to appreciate the finesse, balance, and complexity of Bordeaux Grands Crus from this great vintage.
