Napa Valley’s Cosentino Signature Wines bought by Vintage Wine Estates

Vintage Wine Estates has scooped up the assets of fellow wine group Cosentino Signature Wines, after the producer fell into bankruptcy late last year.

Santa Rosa-based Vintage Wine Estates has acquired Cosentino’s assets for an undisclosed fee, it announced this week. Cosentino, based in Napa Valley, was founded in 1980 but filed for banruptcy in November last year.

The group was unable to secure funds to meet debt repayments and it officially closed for business on 30 December.

“We look forward to upholding the Cosentino Winery tradition of producing exceptional, high quality wines and furthering our mission of cultivating small, hand-crafted artisanal wineries in Napa and Sonoma,” said the president of Vintage Wine Estates, Pat Roney. Decanter: China to become biggest Bordeaux importer

by Jane Anson in Bordeaux-  As further indication of Bordeaux’s increasing dependence on the Asian market, China – when taken together with Hong Kong – is due to overtake Germany as the largest volume importer of the Bordeaux wines.
China alone became the largest value importer outside of the EU in May 2010, and when taken together with Hong Kong is due to overtake the UK for value of imports.

Decanter: ASC opens wine centre in Beijing

by staff – Chinese importer ASC Fine Wines has opened a multi-storey wine centre in Beijing. The Wine Gallery is located in Beijing Sanlitun’s Village North, and consists of three floors of training rooms, storage facilities, meeting and function rooms.

Decanter: Grahm sells Pacific Rim

Banfi intends to continue with Pacific Rim’s executive team in place, running the Riesling-focused winery independent of its other holdings.

Distribution is expected to remain unchanged and, while there are no immediate plans to increase exports, Banfi’s communications director Lars Leicht said ‘any company with stable growth will diversify if able.’

Pacific Rim was started in the 1990s by Grahm and winemaker-general manager Nicolas Quillé, mainly to deal with his imports of Riesling from Washington, and from the Mosel, where he sourced grapes from Johannes Selbach until a few years ago. Continue reading „Decanter: Grahm sells Pacific Rim“

Nach dem ersten flüchtigen „Drüberschauen“  mit allen wichtigen Informationen, die man benötigt. Sicherlich noch ausbaufähig aber die englische Version sollte auch bald kommen – der Button ist schon mal oben rechts im Eck sichtbar.
