On Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th of March don’t miss the opportunity to meet the young producers of this great Italian white wine. From the 19th to the 21st of March Consorzio del Soave will be at Dusseldorf ProWein (Hall 15, C41) with a completely renovated stand which will remind of a modern and essential wine bar where all interpretations of Soave can be found. Historical vineyards, minerality and young producers are just some of the themes that will be discussed during the tours the Consorzio is going to dedicated to journalists and business operators.
Particular attention for young producers is what, in 2016, brought Consorzio del Soave, in collaboration with the Italian online magazine Wine Meridian, to start a project to get to know the so called next generation of Soave producers better, the “Soave Next Generation” project. Through face to face interviews, visiting producers in their wineries, current perceptions, expectations and threats came out.
Italian wine export wasn’t as big as it is now, when in the ’70s Soave imposed itself on the most important markets in world, starting from the United States. For this reason it’s necessary to analyse the evolution of this prestigious Italian designation, an ideal way to understand the reasons of its success but also its limits, all seen through the eyes of those young producers who now have the honour, yet the duty, to continue the glorious history of Soave.
„ProWein is going to open a very important fairs season for Soave producers” underlines Aldo Lorenzoni, Director of the Consorzio “in fact after the German stage, they are going to attend to Vinitaly and then VinExpo in Bordeaux. Attention to home market and strong export efforts are the directions that are going to characterise our 2017. Starting from the German market, which is in good shape and interested in Soave, both as wine and as tourist location”.
On Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th at 3pm starting from Consorzio del Soave stand (Hall 15, C41) there will be the unique opportunity to attend the tasting tour, hosted by Fabio Piccoli, that will help you discover the protagonists of „Soave Next Generation“. “Soave Next Generation project was the first attempt made by an Italian Consortium to analyse the evolution of its designation, not just from a productive point of view but also from the producers point of view, regarding their feelings and perceptions about it. The Soave analysis showed the active presence of a young generation who strongly believe in the importance of their designation, but at the same time they are aware of the necessity for producers to be much more cohesive and to invest in new models of international promotion, in order to let people know about the actual value of Soave” says Fabio Piccoli, Director of Wine Meridian.
